-- one downside

One downside to having a president from Chicago is that nasty weather does not deter him. We had an ice storm last night and this morning (in effect until 6pm tonight) that was so treacherous that ambulances in some cases were having to call in salt trucks just to get in and out of neighborhoods. Most everything is closed today in DC, Maryland & Virginia. But my work is open. Go figure. Never a snow day for me when I need it most.

I envy those with snow days too. I doubt I'll ever have one again and it's definitely not for a lack of snow. I've lost motivation to work JUST KNOWING APLers have today off.

Yeah, me neither.*

*I know, it's weird, but one thing that stinks about living in LA is you never, ever, ever get a random day off of work for the weather. Best you could hope for would be an earthquake, and that's not the kind of thing you hope for to begin with...

Government allowed for "unscheduled leave" today. That doesn't help for contractors like me.
Not that I mind that much. Being from upstate NY, this little ice storm didn't phase me at all unless you count all of the idiots on the road I had to deal with.

when i was watching the news earlier, i had to laugh when obama was saying how his daughters' school was cancelled, and his older daughter made the comment that people in d.c. don't know what snow is. he said that they never have snow days in chicago. go figure...
